GIVEN THE RECENT HEAVY RAINFALL IN THE REGION, THE TOTAL FIRE BAN ISSUED MAY 5th 2016 HAS BEEN LIFTED FOR THE SUMMER VILLAGE OF KAPASIWIN EFFECTIVE MAY 21st 2016, 12:00 NOON. THE FIRE BAN IN PARKLAND COUNTY HAS ALSO BEEN LIFTED. AS ALWAYS COUNCIL URGES CAUTION WHEN STARTING AND WHILE ENJOYING A FIRE. PLEASE STAY POSTED FOR FURTHER CHANGES TO THE FIRE BAN STATUS THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER.

2017 MUNICIPAL ELECTION
Nomination day was held as scheduled on June 10th 2017 from 10:00am - 12:00noon. All three seats on council were up for election. The Returning Officer has confirmed that three nominations were received: Tim Wiles, John McIvor and Tim Kirby.
As the number of nominations match the number of vacancies being contested, the candidates are elected by acclamation and there will be no voting on June 30th 2017 or July 8th 2017 as previously scheduled. The term of the new council will run from 2017 to 2021, starting from the date of 2017 organizational meeting (date to be determined).
FOOTPATH INFORMATION FROM THE AIM
To help facilitate the continued discussion on the Footpath Easement associated with many of the properties in the Village, Council circulated a Message to the Villagers on this topic during the 2016 Annual Information Meeting. Council's message is attached below for reference. Also attached is a memo prepared by Denny Thomas which is referenced in Council's message and gives additional context to the discussion.
